Nutrition for Children, Giving What They Need

All stage of a child’s growing has its own vital nutrition requirements. 75% of brain capability develops between birth and age three. Beginning at age two, children should consume moderately low-fat food to avoid unhealthinesses later.

Nowadays fast food is cheap, convenient, available in unnecessarily super-sized portions, and it appeals to children who are generally less aware than adults when making healthy food choices. Kids rarely walking school and mostly play video games instead of hide-and-seek. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) notes that 36% of children don’t exercise at all. There has never been a more crucial time to consider the health and nutritional choices you’re helping your kids make. It’s never too early to begin a healthy lifestyle with proper nutrition. To help assure their long-term health, start your kids out with the proper nutrition they need today.

Most of the parents will do everything to protect their kids from any possible harm. It generally starts when a child for the first time protests during tasting a new food and parents who do not want to let a bit one to stay hungry give him something he or she wants to eat, but not necessarily something he or she should eat. A good way to smuggle veggies into our child’s diet is to mix them with food he or she likes or to use some of dressings or spices.

There is no need to include mineral and vitamin supplements into the diet of our child if only we use proper nutrition for children. All kids love sweeties and many parents ration them out every gram of chocolate or candies for they think that overmuch sugar intake may result in Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Still, there is no scientific proof of such coincidence and just the contrary: children who can only watch as their friends eat ice creams or chew gum may become agitated and irritated, but from really different reasons. We all want our child to be healthy and happy but when it comes to proper nutrition for children we usually choose the happy option. Anyway, when it comes to nutrition for children, almost every parent has still a lot to do.

Children should eat foods according to the food pyramid designed for children. The food pyramid emphasizes food from the five major food groups, which your child needs for good health. You have to control what your child eats and ensure they are eating well-balanced and healthy foods and not overdoing it on junk foods.

In the beginning, your child should eat 3 well-balanced meals and 2 nutritious snacks each day. The type of fat your child is consuming is very important. Saturated fasts include foods like meats, dairy products, coconut, palm and palm kernel oil, raise cholesterol more than unsaturated fats, which are found in olive, peanut, and canola oils, or polyunsaturated fats in safflower, sunflower, corn, soybean and cottonseed oils. Within the meat group, your child should receive 2 servings per day. This can include 2 to 3 ounces of cooked lean meat, fish, or poultry, or ½ cup of cooked dry beans. You child should eat 3 servings from the vegetable group every day. One serving consists of ½ cup of chopped or raw vegetables or 1 cup of raw leafy vegetables.

From the fruit group your little one should eat 2 servings per day. This can include 1 piece of fruit or a wedge of a melon, ¾ cup of 100 percent fruit juice, ¼ cup of dried fruit, or ½ cup of canned fruit.

From the grain group you should serve your child 6 servings per day. This can include for one serving 1 slice of bread, ½ cup of cooked pasta or rice, 1 ounce of ready to eat cereal, or ½ cup of cooked cereal.
